Hailing from a small town outside of Vancouver, BC, The Deep Notes are seriously beginning to make ground.  They are a pair well versed in the tradition of jazz infused hip hop beats and drinking 40’s; a fact that is very apparent when you listen to one of their beats.  Taking influence from the likes of DJ Premier, Pete Rock, and 9th Wonder the two produce catchy and solid hip hop loops taken from rarely sampled gems.  This is the resurgence that hip hop needs to survive and be taken seriously once again.  When T-Pain’s heavily synthesized voice dominates the top 40, you can tell the people listening are lambs who have no opinion of their own.  It’s stuff like The Deep Notes that combines the best of Jazz with the best of Hip Hop and updates it all for the Twenty-First century.  The track I have for everybody is their latest.  It’s a remix of the first single off the upcoming Majik Most CD. The song is called “Back on the Map” and it feature’s Majik’s Demigodz buddy Celph Titled and, often collaborated with, Dutchmassive. This song is the perfect example of where they take influence from. The Pete Rock undertones combined with the crisp 9th Wonder-esque drum hits make this track very respectable. Lay some fresh new lyrics from all three members of Equilibrium over it and you will be replaying this gem over and over. Check out the other Deep Notes tracks at their myspace page and show them some love.
